This week - 27 miles
Nothings harder than getting back in the saddle. After my hiatus from being sick or out of town, this week my goal was to make a come back.
First thing on the list: revisit the schedule. No way I could run 20 miles with the gang. No way I was going to try simply to "be on schedule". So, now I've got a new path to get to San Diego. And feeling pretty good about it.
Next, figure out if I should do my last session of Hill Repeats. The schedule called for 7. And I was concerned I might revert my health back if I wasn't careful. At the end of the day, I decided to go for it. Five Miles, 7 Hill Repeats, no iPod/Music, and on a Treadmill at lunch... but I did it.
After that, I was pretty confident (although still slightly coughing), and decided Thursday's GMPs needed to get done. No more babying my health. I was "back" in training.
Off I pushed at lunch. Miles 1 & 2 were pretty awesome: 8/Miles. Mile 3 & 4 started to slip: 8:45 (although technically my GMP) and Mile 5 was just an attempt to get in: 9:15.
Yup. Too Fast Out Of The Gate. Oh well... a reminder that I'll need to focus on my GMP for the next 2 months.
Tomorrow I have an Easy 10. I'm easing back on those Long Runs, trying to be smart. After all, I know I can do the distance. It's just holding that pace: 8:45.
GTQ Miles: 7 miles this week. My girl's holding back...
