Race Report: Peters Summer Trail Series #2 & 3 (July & August)
Oh Boy! I'm behind!
So, over the summer I completed the Peter's Canyon Summer Trail Series. I won't waste much time on the review for Series #2 and #3 because truthfully, what you read in series #1 applies.
What I will say is the series as a whole is a great introduction to Trail Running. I neglected to mention trail runs is a different sport from regular ol' running. Usually trail runs mean hills, hills, and more hills + dust and heat. And well, that's true! But what a wonderful way to mix up the norm and give the knees a break!
Give it a try but know you're normal pace will not apply on the trails. Relax instead and enjoy the scenery!
Oh, and I'd be missing something HUGE if I didn't mention that on the third series... my dream came true! August 4th was my birthday and I was able to do exactly what I love: run and hang out with friends. Thank you to my running friends (and a few who weren't) and family for trekking out to Cedar Grove to celebrate my birthday with a BBQ/Picnic after the trail run! As we all know, there's nothing I enjoy more than opening an ice cold beer with friends after a hot run!!!
Thank God for my friends! And hope to do it again!
At the end of the day... no Race Perks/What Sucks... instead I encourage everyone to give Trail Races a try but be prepared for a little butt kickin'!
9 out of 10, as usual on my scale for this race!
