Introduction
I’m a Runner. I don’t question it, it’s just who I … became. See, I wasn’t always a Runner. In fact, when I watched my sister participate in her first High School Cross Country Invitational, I told my mom I’d like to try Cross Country. She laughed. Then she proceeded to point out that I’d be that kid… the one stopping on the course to chat it up with some friends. I doubt “that kid” was in the race, but I got her hint. At the time, I wasn’t exactly a Runner.
In high school, I eventually dropped off the Cross Country team. At that point in my life, I was a Soccer Player and I held that Identity through to college. That is, until one day I decided being a Soccer Player wasn’t all that great. So, I quit and that’s where I… became a Runner, again.
It wasn’t until my sister completed the LA Marathon in ’99 that I decided to take the plunge from a leisurely Runner to a marathon Runner. Watching her stiff, tired legs jog towards the finish, it inspired the Runner in me and I found myself signed up for A Snails Pace Training Program in Huntington Beach three months later.
Ten years, six Marathons and three Ironmans later… I’ve decided I can officially be called a Runner… for “reals” this time!
Oh, and along the way, I gained Running Coach as a Title… so, I figured I’d share my experiences, my thoughts, my reviews, my suggestions, my resources, my opinion... well, you get the point... on all things OC Running related. It's what I wished someone had done for me when I first started.
Enjoy!
